In a radio interview with the South Carolina Business Review, Hagood Tighe discusses the official end of the COVID-19 public health emergency and the impact it has had on employers. Hagood points out that lifting the public health emergency has caused some confusion for employers and employees regarding things like testing and vaccination requirements as well as remote working arrangements. He explains that with regard to remote work, we are seeing a trend where more employers are looking to get their employees back to the office, and “if they don’t have a medical reason they need to stay out, they’re likely going to have to return to the office as required by their employers.” Hagood goes on to discuss accommodating employees with medical concerns and the overall impact the pandemic has had on employers’ ability to recruit and retain employees in today’s tight labor market.
