His national practice spans all aspects of labor and employment law including regularly representing employers in litigation matters involving discrimination claims and wrongful termination claims.
He provides advice, counsel and training on such topics as interviewing and hiring, performance management, creating a respectful workplace and drafting of employment handbooks and policies.
In addition, he assists businesses in traditional labor matters such as formulating comprehensive and strategic union avoidance practices, protecting employers in union election campaigns, negotiating collective bargaining agreements and defending grievance and unfair labor practice claims.
Rick also assists employers with regulatory and government administrative issues at the local, state and federal levels. Rick has been selected for inclusion in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers every year since 2007.
- Winning dismissal of age and disability claims brought against a large retail client.
- Counseling a large gaming client to victory in a union campaign.
- Successful defense of a major law firm against a disability discrimination claim by the EEOC.
- Obtaining successful trial result for a large financial industry client.
- Developing strategy for major retail and hospitality clients resulting in decertification of the unions representing their employees.
- Achieving a favorable contract for a major health care client who had been at impasse with the union representing its staff.
- Co-counsel in successful defense of Unfair Labor Practice Charges alleging multiple violations of the National Labor Relations Act in which the NLRB sought injunctive relief against the employer.
