Overview

Karl Lindegren is a partner in Fisher Phillips’ Irvine and Los Angeles offices and is the co-chair of the firm’s California Litigation Practice Group.  Karl has practiced labor and employment law for over 30 years, representing companies of all sizes.  In his litigation practice, he has tried high stakes employment cases to verdict (for the defense). Representative issues include disability, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation/whistleblower claims.  He also advises clients in all areas of employment-related law including, discrimination, leave and accommodation issues, wage-hour, trade secrets and workplace safety (OSHA).  In his litigation practice, Karl has handled cases before the California Courts of Appeal, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Montana Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.  Notably, Karl and the Fisher Phillips team successfully took the Encino Motorcars case to the United States Supreme Court.  

Karl frequently speaks to employer groups and provides training to clients and human resource groups.

He is "AV" Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2010.

Karl was recognized as a Litigation – Labor and Employment Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America for 2014.

Recent Experience

Experience

  • Represented the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles in an eight-week trial in Los Angeles Superior Court on a whistleblower, wrongful termination and sex discrimination claims brought by a former high-level executive.  Obtained a complete defense verdict.
  • Representing a major data analytics and technology company in a sexual harassment and retaliation case that settled on terms favorable to the client on the first day of trial.
  • Obtained a defense verdict after a three-week jury trial on behalf of a logistics company in a national origin, race, religion, and age harassment, discrimination and retaliation claim.  Former employees demanded $12.7M in damages.
  • Defended an automobile dealership in a claim involving employee’s burglary and sexual assault of a customer at her home in which plaintiff claimed employer negligently allowed access to customer information.  Case resolved just before closing arguments favorable to dealership.
