Los Angeles, CA (June 6, 2016) – Fisher Phillips announces partners Lonnie Giamela and Kristen Nesbit and associates Zack Domb, Sarina Saluja and Raul Zermeno in the Los Angeles office and associates Colin Calvert, Collin Cook, Usama Kahf and Boris Sorsher in the Irvine office have all been recognized as “Rising Stars” in the Southern California Super Lawyers 2016 Edition.
Super Lawyers is a listing of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The objective of the Super Lawyers selection process is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource to assist in the search for legal counsel. To be listed among the region’s Rising Stars, attorneys must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less.
Giamela is a partner in both the Los Angeles and Irvine offices. He represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. He has extensive experience representing local, regional and national clients in class action wage and hour lawsuits, as well as representative lawsuits brought under California’s Private Attorneys General Act. His clients range from small businesses to national companies in all sectors of manufacturing, retail, wholesale distribution, hospitality, education and the automotive industries. Giamela received his J.D. from Georgetown University (2003) and his B.A. from George Washington University (1999). He has been included in the Southern California Super Lawyers – Rising Stars since 2013 and the Top 100 Up and Coming lawyers in Southern California in 2015.
Nesbit is a partner in the Los Angeles office. She concentrates her practice on employment litigation and client counseling. She defends employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour matters and wrongful termination. Nesbit has represented public entities, private corporations and individuals in both state and federal courts. She also advises employers on all aspects of employment related matters, including hiring, employment policies and handbooks and employee discipline and termination. Nesbit’s previous recognitions include being named by L.A. Biz in its 2016 “Women of Influence” list and inclusion in the 2013 “Hot List” for Minority Attorneys Under 40 in the Western Region by Lawyers of Color Inc. She earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School (2005) and her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2002).
Domb is an associate in the Los Angeles office. He is an aggressive litigator who represents employers in various aspects of labor and employment law, including single-plaintiff and class action employment matters involving wrongful termination, wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims. He regularly counsels employers and assists them in establishing policies and practices in order to manage risk and avoid litigation. He has been selected for inclusion in Southern California Super Lawyers – Rising Stars every year since 2013 and was a recipient of Pasadena Magazine’s Top Attorneys award for three years straight. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School (2009) and his B.A. from University of California, Santa Cruz (2005).
Saluja is an associate in the Los Angeles office. She concentrates her practice on employment litigation and client counseling. Her practice focuses on representing employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour matters, and wrongful termination. She also advises clients on employment compliance, internal investigations, discipline, terminations, reductions in force and wage and hour matters. In 2013, she was named to the ‘Hot List’ for Minority Attorneys Under 40 in the Western Region by Lawyers of Color Inc. She received her J.D. from University of California, Hastings School of Law (2007) and her B.A. from University of California, Berkeley (2003).
Zermeno is an associate in the Los Angeles office. He represents management in all aspects of employment law, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination and wage and hour claims. A frequent presenter, Zermeno is also very active with the Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce. He received his J.D. from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law (2008) and his B.A. from University of California, Berkeley (2004).
Calvert is an associate in the Irvine office. His practice includes all areas of labor and employment law, with a focus on claims of discrimination and harassment under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), as well as class action wage and hour lawsuits. In addition to his litigation practice, Colin provides counseling to his clients on various issues, including traditional labor relations. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School (2010) and his B.A. from University of California, Santa Barbara (2007).
Cook is an associate in the firm's Irvine office. He represents and counsels employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including employment discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour litigation, unfair competition, workplace safety and construction labor law. Collin also regularly advises clients on workplace policies and procedures, employee classification issues and compliance with California's complex prevailing wage laws. With extensive experience in the construction industry, Cook is a member of the Legal Advisory Committee for the Associated General Contractors of California. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School (2007) and his B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles (2004).
Kahf is an associate in the firm's Irvine office. He represents and counsels employers of all sizes in all aspects of labor and employment law, including wage & hour, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, employee discipline and termination, trade secrets and restrictive covenants. He also regularly advises clients on workplace investigations, overtime exemptions, and employee vs. independent contractor classification issues, as well as on data security, document retention and preservation obligations under state and federal law. He regularly presents seminars and trainings on electronic discovery and data security and has co-authored a book on electronic discovery practice under the federal rules. Kahf also been selected for inclusion in Southern California Super Lawyers - Rising Stars every year since 2013. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School (2009) and his M.A. (2005) and his B.S. (2003) from California State University, Los Angeles.
Sorsher is an associate in the Irvine office. Hepractices all areas of labor and employment law, including defense of class actions. He is a determined and aggressive litigator who has successfully represented clients in mediation, arbitration, as well as state and federal court proceedings. Sorsher has been selected for inclusion in Southern California Super Lawyers – Rising Stars since 2013. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School (2007) and his B.A. from University of California, Berkeley (2004).
