Four Fisher Phillips Attorneys in Portland Listed in 2014 Oregon Super Lawyers & Rising Stars

PORTLAND, OR (July 9, 2014) —Two attorneys in the Portland office of Fisher Phillips were selected by their peers for inclusion in 2014 Oregon Super Lawyers, and two associate attorneys from the same office are listed in Rising Stars. Partners Clarence Belnavis and Richard Meneghello are listed in Oregon Super Lawyers, while associate Erin Sweeney is included in Rising Stars. The Super Lawyers honors are bestowed on up to five percent of lawyers in the state, and no more than 2.5 percent are named Rising Stars.
Clarence Belnavis was selected for inclusion in 2014 Oregon Super Lawyers in the employment and labor law and employment litigation categories. He has substantial experience handling various types of employment litigation including disability, racial and gender discrimination; retaliation; sexual harassment; and wrongful discharge. He also represents employers in wage and hour claims, employment class actions and traditional labor matters. Clarence has been regularly listed in Oregon Super Lawyers since 2006.
Richard Meneghello was selected for inclusion in 2014 Oregon Super Lawyers in the employment and labor law category. Rich has focused much of his practice on defending and advising employers on disability discrimination issues. He has maintained this focus since 1999, when he was the lead associate attorney before the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Albertsons v. Kirkingburg, a unanimous decision interpreting the Americans with Disabilities Act in favor of employers. Besides disability discrimination matters, Rich commonly appears in court defending claims of sexual harassment, gender discrimination, injured worker discrimination, race discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and family and medical leave discrimination. He also counsels employers on proactive ways to avoid legal problems, by rendering advice, drafting policies and providing training. Rich has been listed in Oregon Super Lawyers since 2009.
Erin Sweeney was also selected for inclusion in Rising Stars in the employment and labor law category. She represents management in all aspects of employment law and labor relations. Erin defends employers against claims of discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge and wage and hour violations, as well as grievances and unfair labor practice charges. Erin also advises and conducts training on an array of federal and state employment and labor issues and works with employers to develop and implement employee agreements, workplace communications and policies. Erin has experience assisting management with labor dispute contingency planning, strikes and lockouts, secondary picketing, union organizing campaigns and developing union avoidance plans. Erin has been listed in Rising Stars since 2012.
