Fisher Phillips, one of the country’s preeminent labor and employment law firms representing employers, is proud to announce that Columbia Partner, Sheila Willis, was sworn-in as President of the National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations (NCWBA) on August 4, 2023.
The NCWBA is a unique organization of women’s bar associations representing approximately 35,000 women lawyers across the country. It provides a national forum for exchanging ideas and information vital to organizational growth and success toward equality in today’s profession.
As President, Sheila will lead the NCWBA’s efforts to advance the interests of women in the legal profession by doing her part to mobilize and unite women’s bar associations to advocate for equality in the industry. “Gender-based equity and inclusion brings an important perspective to the practice of law, and, as President, I look forward to bringing women from around the country together to make meaningful strides to have our voices heard and secure proper representation in the industry,” said Sheila. “I am honored to do my part to help build and support a legal profession that accurately reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.”
Sheila is no stranger to leadership roles and currently serves as Co-Chair of Fisher Phillips’ Affirmative Action and Federal Contract Compliance Practice Group and was recently sworn in to serve on the South Carolina Bar’s Board of Governors. She was also recently named a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow for 2023, is a past president of both the South Carolina Women Lawyers’ Association (SCWLA) and the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers (SCYLD) Division. Sheila also serves on the Board of Directors for Columbia – Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
