Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, is pleased to announce that Cheryl Blount has joined as a Partner in Houston, Texas. She joins on the heels of Fisher Phillips’ recent announcement of Emily Harbison joining and assuming the role of Regional Managing Partner in the firm’s Houston office.
Cheryl’s arrival maintains Fisher Phillips’ recent Texas momentum after last summer’s news that Adam Sloustcher was appointed as the leader of the firm’s Dallas office. Since then, Fisher Phillips has experienced tremendous growth across the state with the arrivals of Partners Emily Harbison, Amanda Brown and Collin Brodrick; Of Counsel Lindsay Reimer, Lauren McDonald, Jonathan Elifson, and Liz Drumm; and Associates Emma Brockway, Alen Samuel, and Sarah In.
“Fisher Phillips has been growing its Texas footprint by attracting the best legal talent in the region, and I am thrilled to continue the momentum with the hiring of a lawyer of Cheryl’s caliber,” said Emily Harbison, Regional Managing Partner of the firm’s Houston Office. “I have worked with Cheryl for several years and have firsthand knowledge of her ability to serve as a trusted counselor, advisor, and relentless defender of employers in a wide variety of complex employment disputes. I’m looking forward to working alongside her again, and I am delighted to welcome her to the team here in Houston.”
Cheryl joins from an international AmLaw 50 firm where she represented employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including counseling, litigation, and labor relations. She is known as a first chair trial lawyer with experience defending management against claims of discrimination, retaliation, and breach of noncompetition agreements. Cheryl also represents employers in traditional labor law matters including arbitrations and unfair labor practice charges.
Cheryl earned her J.D., cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law where she served as an Articles Editor and Executive Editor with Baylor Law Review. She was elected as a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and earned her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Texas.
