Fisher Phillips’ COVID-19 Workplace Litigation Tracker Highlighted by Media

Using data collected by Fisher Phillips’ COVID-19 Employment Litigation Tracker, the firm’s Litigation Team found that of the 283 COVID-19-related lawsuits filed in federal and state courts, 122 – or 43% -- were filed in the month of June. In interviews with Business Insurance, Claims Journal, and Law360, Melissa Camire and Kristen Nesbit, members of the firm’s Litigation Team, delve into the data, “many of the suits were filed after employers refused to grant requests for unpaid time off, refused to allow employees to work from home or failed to provide adequate personal protective equipment,” they say. Melissa and Kristen explain that the data is a stark reminder for employers that typical best practices cannot be ignored simply because we are operating in unprecedented times. “Employers need to be diligent to make sure their policies and practices are in compliance with the COVID-19 requirements, whether on the state, federal or local level.”
