Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, is pleased to announce that Kathleen A. Dedenbach has joined the firm as Of Counsel in Detroit.
Kate is an accomplished data privacy attorney and joins on the heels of Partner Danielle Kays in the firm’s Chicago office. Together, they continue the growth of Fisher Phillips’ Privacy and Cyber Practice Group as they represent, counsel, and defend companies concerning all aspects of state, federal, and international privacy and data security laws.
For the last decade, Kate served in-house as the Chief Privacy Officer of a diverse financial services company where she led an international team in ensuring the company’s compliance with global data privacy laws and regulations including the GLBA, GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, PIPEDA, CCPA, CPRA, HIPAA, COPPA, CAN-SPAM, state data breach laws, and state insurance breach regulations. During her time with this company, Kate also served in various other privacy counsel roles during which she helped build and lead the in-house privacy team from the ground up for over a decade. Her experience includes providing counsel on the privacy aspects of new technology products, privacy incident investigations, data breaches, compliance with statutory and regulatory notification obligations, U.S. and international privacy law compliance, cross-border data transfer, privacy impact assessments, privacy by design analysis and implementation, privacy vendor risk analysis, privacy training, cookie disclosures and consent for collection of data for purposes of marketing initiatives, and artificial intelligence for regulated entities. Kate also spent more than a decade in various other capacities in the financial services arena including as Privacy Counsel, Senior Counsel, and Assistant General Counsel.
At Fisher Phillips, Kate will play an integral role in the firm’s growing Privacy and Cyber Practice Group, where she will provide tailored plans to help companies comply with every nuance of the myriad state, federal, and international laws, and privacy and cybersecurity regulations. She will leverage her previous experience to serve as a key asset to clients in the financial services industry, including broker-dealer clients, regional banks, Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), financial investment firms, and auto dealer clients. Kate will also provide advice and counseling on all aspects of state, federal, and international privacy and data security laws.
Kate earned her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and her B.A. from Michigan State University.
