Fisher Phillips Collaborates with BLDS and SolasAI to Help Employers Navigate Rapidly Evolving AI Regulations

News

12.08.25

Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, is expanding its advisory capabilities in matters involving workplace AI through a new collaboration with AI employment analytics firm BLDS and AI fairness software provider SolasAI. Employers will now have access to a coordinated offering that supports a comprehensive approach to AI risk management and bias audit services. By drawing on Fisher Phillips’ legal knowledge, BLDS’ litigation and regulatory consulting experience, and SolasAI’s technology, the new service offering provides employers with a defensible audit process supported by both legal and analytical rigor.

“As organizations increasingly rely on AI-driven tools in the employment context, they face mounting scrutiny from regulators and heightened reputational risk. The EEOC has also made it clear that AI bias already violates Title VII, and the same is true for state discrimination laws. We believe bias audits will become a key element of defending employment discrimination lawsuits. This collaborative service offering is a ready-to-use solution that positions employers to harness AI’s benefits while staying ahead of regulatory and compliance demands,” said Dave Walton, co-chair of Fisher Phillips’ AI, Data and Analytics practice.

The new service helps employers responsibly deploy AI and meet complex legal requirements by providing:

  • Vendor Bias Audit Reviews: Legal evaluation of third-party audits, with independent technical audit services by BLDS when needed, and guidance on whether tools qualify as automated decision systems.
  • Internal AI Bias Audit and Compliance Reviews: A technical AI audit and improvement recommendations delivered by BLDS, paired with a legal memo from Fisher Phillips outlining compliance obligations and an optional regulator-ready summary.
  • Continuous AI Monitoring and Governance: Ongoing semi-annual or annual audits supported by SolasAI monitoring, supported by Fisher Phillips’ regulatory updates, compliance workshops, and policy refresh guidance.

The launch of this coordinated offering highlights Fisher Phillips’ leadership role in advising employers on workplace AI, equipping employers to embrace powerful new technologies while staying compliant amid fast-changing regulations.

“Even if no law specifically requires employers to test AI tools for bias, we strongly recommend doing so. A lack of independent bias testing can be used against you in litigation – especially in California, where regulators now expect employers to demonstrate proactive steps to prevent discrimination,” said Usama Kahf, co-chair of Fisher Phillips’ AI, Data and Analytics practice.

“As laws governing workplace AI continue to evolve, this collaboration ensures companies can innovate with confidence while staying firmly on the right side of emerging regulations,” said Nick Schmidt, Director and AI Practice lead at BLDS, LLC.

“We’re proud to collaborate with a leading law firm like Fisher Phillips to bring employers the support they need at a pivotal moment in AI adoption,” said Larry Bradley, CEO of SolasAI.
