In an interview with HR Magazine, Richard Harvey discussed the UK government's new right to bereavement leave—beginning in April 2027—for employees who lose a spouse or partner, parent, adult, child or sibling. “This finally gives grief legal recognition, following pregnancy loss, rather than leaving support to individual managers’ goodwill. The broader recognition of step, half, adoptive, kinship and foster relationships is also welcome and better reflects modern families,” said Richard.
