Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, is pleased to announce that Eric Uhl has joined the firm as a partner in its Portland, Maine office. With 40 years of experience, Eric brings a deep and versatile background in employment law and business litigation, further strengthening the firm’s growing presence in the region.
Eric represents employers and individuals in a wide range of matters across federal and state courts nationwide. His practice includes litigating employment-related matters involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, civil rights claims, and restrictive covenants. He also has significant experience advising on unfair competition and trade secrets disputes. Beyond litigation, Eric counsels clients on day-to-day workplace issues such as hiring, discipline, leave management, and employment policies, and provides guidance on intellectual property and trademark matters.
With his deep experience in Maine employment law, Eric also is frequently asked to serve as neutral in various ways. He is sought out by litigators around Portland to serve as a mediator when other lawyers seek assistance in resolving disputes, especially discrimination/retaliation and restrictive covenant matters. Eric also has an active practice serving as an outside investigator, conducting third party investigations following allegations of discriminatory conduct in a workplace.
“Eric’s arrival is a key part of our strategic growth in Maine and throughout Northern New England,” said Chris Stief, Regional Managing Partner of the firm’s Portland office. “Substantively, he brings us extensive experience as an employment law advisor and litigator with an outstanding track record representing both private and public sector employers.” Stief added that “Eric also adds to our depth experience litigating and mediating non-compete matters, which is a key practice area for our firm with constantly increasing demand both locally and nationally.”
Eric is the eighth partner to join Fisher Phillips since the firm opened its Portland office 15 months ago, bringing the office’s total attorney headcount to 15. His addition underscores Fisher Phillips’ ongoing investment in its Portland office and its commitment to serving clients with top-tier legal talent and local market insight.
Eric shared his enthusiasm about joining the firm and reconnecting with longtime colleagues: “I’ve known many of the attorneys at Fisher Phillips for decades and have always admired their dedication to excellent client service and superior legal work,” he said. “Equally important is their commitment to being an active part of the Portland business community. It’s a great team to be joining right now.”
Eric received his J.D. from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
