Your industry requires you to walk a fine line, offering your patients critical services while also complying with the many legal workplace requirements unique to the healthcare arena. Your workplace lawyers should be as dedicated to your mission as you are.

The Fisher Phillips Healthcare Practice Group serves healthcare organizations across the country, large and small. We regularly represent hospitals, clinics, medical residency programs, physician groups and practices, home healthcare agencies, hospice programs, nursing homes, assisted and independent living centers, and other members of the healthcare community. Our lawyers participate in regional, state, and national healthcare associations such as the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA).

Prevention and Consultation
We believe it is better to avoid legal problems than to defend them. That is why we provide cost-effective and practical solutions to the problems that healthcare employers face every day through a robust advice-and-counsel practice. Among other things, we help hospitals and other healthcare institutions determine how to maintain a union-free environment, fulfill complicated Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements, ensure that compensation and time-recording practices comply with wage and hour laws, and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and a variety of leave laws, all with a sensitivity toward Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other accrediting requirements. We also review and revise applications, employment contracts, handbooks, arbitration agreements, and other key documents.

We provide training sessions specifically tailored for your organization to ensure compliance with the law and with best human resources practices. The training sessions can be delivered to your administrators, managers, or employees.

Defense of Legal Actions
Our Healthcare Practice Group includes seasoned trial lawyers who have successfully defended healthcare organizations in court and before government agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and the Department of Labor (DOL). We also regularly represent healthcare organizations in arbitration proceedings.
