To help reduce fear and encourage businesses to open their doors, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed H.B. 606 — the Good Samaritan Expansion Bill — into law to protect employers, among others, from the risk of COVID-19-related liability. In a bylined article published in Law360, Jeffrey Smith explains what employers need to know about the new law while stressing that the protections against liability for exposure to COVID-19 under the law are narrow and it will not shield employers from all liability arising out of the pandemic.
