Sacramento Partner Pens Piece on California “Red Flag” Law

Publication

2.28.20

Sacramento Partner Benjamin M. Ebbink authored an article for Facility Executive titled “’Red Flag’ Law In California Expands To Workplaces And Schools.” In his article, Ben defines red flag laws and gun violence restraining orders, and he examines California’s AB 61, which recently took effect. The new law allows employers and teachers, among other individuals, to request gun violence restraining orders (GVRO) against another person. Ben says that the ability to request a GVRO could be a valuable tool for employers, but it could present other issues, including potential OSHA violations and tort liability.
