Of course, it's important to note that the new law does not prevent people from volunteering their salary history. And as written, the law doesn't appear to keep employers from asking candidates about a desired salary range. While it may limit the discussion, "it doesn’t make salary a taboo subject," said Amber. Many employers who want to know what it will take to hire someone "will find other ways to get the information they're looking for."
