Immigration Partner Comments on Impact of President’s Proclamation

News

6.29.20

On June 22nd the President issued an immigration proclamation which, in part, barred the entry of foreign executives and other skilled workers from the U.S. through 2020 and potentially longer. In an interview with Law Week Colorado, partner Jocelyn Campanaro discussed how the suspension on foreign workers could create hardship for many employers because “it’s in effect for so long…[s]ix months in immigration is long time.” Jocelyn went on to explain that a workaround really does not exist for employers, and she has been recommending that companies discourage international travel unless it’s absolutely necessary. Ultimately she advises employers to be prepared and plan for situations in which foreign employees have had to leave the United States and may not be able to get back into the country for quite some time.
