Can employers require vaccinations? That is the question SHRM posed to Atlanta partner Howard Mavity as the measles outbreak spreads across states. Healthcare employers typically require vaccinations or proof of immunity as a condition of employment, according to Howard, and, he noted that most schoolchildren must be immunized, so many employees can show proof of immunity years later. “Courts don't closely scrutinize religious objections to immunizations,” he remarked.
