Don't Let March Madness Turn Into March Sadness

News

3.17.14

Shayna Balch was a guest on KPHO’s morning show on March 17, 2014.

She spoke about March Madness from an employer's standpoint.

“Arizona is an employment at will state,” Shayna explained. “Most employees are paid at an hourly basis.”

Nothing can infuriate an employer more than when they discover they are paying their employees to be online working on their brackets, she explained.

Shayna offered some smart strategies:

  • Employers need to look at their Internet policy closely.
  • Host a meeting to go over the policies as a reminder.
  • Employees should ask questions if they are unclear on their expectations.
  • Employees should try to do March Madness activities during  personal time.
