In the article, "Could protesting cost you your job? California labor lawyers explain," featured in San Francisco Business Times, attorney Alden Parker comments on the protections California has in place for employees that do decide to protest.

"If the protest is political in nature, which most protests would be taken to be, then the employer must be cautious in proceeding with termination," Parker said. "In this situation where two people unlawfully protest two opposite political parties, they must be treated the same. To fire one and not the other would be very dangerous."
