Co-Chair of Firm’s Healthcare Practice Talks to the Media About Vaccines in the Workplace

News

9.20.20

As the flu season approaches and the COVID-19 pandemic continues, employers’ vaccination policies may soon become more important than ever. Kevin Troutman talked to various media outlets about employers mandating vaccines for their employees to help prevent the spread of viruses in the workplace.

Kevin describes that the history of how employers have dealt with the flu vaccine will serve as a good baseline for how they will likely deal with a COVID-19 vaccine. He also explains that in most states, unless there's a state law that's contrary, employers can require flu shots, and Kevin thinks the same will likely be true for a COVID vaccine if and when one becomes available as long as employers “…also provide for exceptions based upon medical or religious objections and possibly in some states even if relates to political activity."
