Ed Foulke, co-chair of the firm's Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management Practice Group and former head of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under President George W. Bush, was quoted in two articles about what employers can expect to see from OSHA during President Obama’s second term. In the November 26 National Law Journal article “A Host of Agencies, Battles Brewing,” Ed predicted “continued aggressive enforcement, more inspections and higher penalties” as the agency pursues its regulatory and enforcement agenda. In the SHRM Online article “Obama 2nd Term Promises Slew of Regulatory Actions from OSHA,” Ed said, “You’re seeing less emphasis from compliance assistance programs like [the Voluntary Protection Program] and more enforcement.” He advised employers to expect a more aggressive OSHA in the next four years.
