Federal contractors must collect and annually file a report with their employees' compensation, under currently proposed regulations. Following the recent Executive Order mandate, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) plans to require:
- Employees' W-2 income as of December 31, reported by March 31 each year;
- Compensation aggregated and reported by EEO-1 category; and
- Other "relevant data points," such as hours worked.
Purpose of the Equal Pay Report? OFCCP is establishing industry benchmarks to prioritize contractors for audits whose compensation falls outside the benchmark. The OFCCP just extended the comment period for the regulations to January 5, 2015, signaling that it is already receiving many comments and looking for more.
