Overview
Joel Moon represents and advises employers on various labor and employment issues, including various state and federal law claims, wage and hour, PAGA actions, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, disability, reasonable accommodations, the interactive process, and wrongful termination.
Joel has litigated and advised clients on civil rights, torts, breach of contract, bankruptcy issues, and issues specific to wage and hour laws, including complex class action and representative actions. Joel has appeared and argued in both state and federal courts and has second chaired a state court civil trial. Joel has experience handling all stages of litigation, from commencement to settlement, trial, or appeal. Joel has extensive law and motion practice in both state and federal courts, including all aspects of discovery, dispositive motions, and pre-trial, trial, and post-trial motions.
He also provides counseling on employee discipline, separations, terminations, and severance negotiations. In addition, Joel’s practice includes representation of public employers, entities, and agencies. Joel’s focus is on providing employers with preventative measures and counseling, including policy and procedure recommendations. Joel has also led labor negotiations and negotiated labor agreements for public agencies. In addition to labor negotiations, Joel’s practice also includes advising clients on CalPERS issues and has counseled and worked with employers and CalPERS contracting agencies with respect to CalPERS audit issues related to ongoing compliance and policy decisions.
While in law school, Joel served as an extern to Judge Meredith A. Jury of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.
