Gustavo José Villaça Borin Gavião De Almeida, a Visiting Legal Professional in Fisher Phillips’ Philadelphia Office, brings a global perspective to helping businesses manage the complex challenges of data protection, cybersecurity, and data governance. With extensive in-house and cross-border experience, he helps organizations design practical strategies to safeguard sensitive information, ensure regulatory compliance, and respond effectively to emerging data risks.

Before joining Fisher Phillips, Gustavo was Senior Legal Counsel at a multinational financial technology company in São Paulo, Brazil, where he guided business units across Latin America through evolving privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory frameworks. He played a central role in implementing compliance with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD), aligning global standards with local requirements, and leading cross-regional collaboration on product development, privacy incident response, and data governance. His work also included advising on technology agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, as well as helping integrate acquired companies into the company’s global operations.

Gustavo earned is Master of Laws from the University of Virginia School of Law as a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and his Bachelor of Laws with honors from The FGV Direito SP in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
