In an interview with Law360, Samantha Monsees discusses what employers should consider when navigating a prospective employee’s vaccine status during the hiring process. Samantha advises that employers give candidates an early notice of any vaccine requirements. Additionally, she recommends that employers tread carefully around a candidate’s medical history. "Inevitably, if you start talking about vaccines or vaccine status, that conversation is likely to lend to the 'whys' of why someone is or isn't vaccinated," she says. "And oftentimes that can reveal information that an employer just doesn't need to know about during the interview process — medical- or disability-related information or sincerely held religious beliefs."
