Two Attorneys in the Boston Office Named to Massachusetts Super Lawyers List

BOSTON, MA (October 19, 2015) – Two attorneys in the Boston office of Fisher Phillips have been selected for inclusion in the 2015 Massachusetts Super Lawyers list. Joseph W. Ambash, the managing partner of the firm’s Boston office, was honored in the Employment and Labor, and Schools and Education categories. Jeff Dretler, a partner in the Boston office, was recognized in the Employment Litigation: Defense, and Employment and Labor categories. Only 5 percent of Massachusetts lawyers were included in the 2015 Massachusetts Super Lawyers list. The findings will be published in Boston magazine and the stand-alone publication Super Lawyers Magazine.

Ambash represents employers in a broad range of industries, including health care, higher education, financial services, retail, media, sports and state and local government. He has represented clients before the National Labor Relations Board, the Massachusetts Division of Labor Relations, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the United States Department of Labor, and in Massachusetts state and federal courts, the U.S. Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. He successfully represented New Process Steel in a Supreme Court case invalidating decisions by a two-member NLRB. He also successfully represented Brown University in a landmark NLRB case holding that graduate students are not employees under the National Labor Relations Act. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Yale University and a cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School.

Dretler represents employers in state and federal courts and administrative agencies in cases involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, whistleblower, retaliation, wage and hour and noncompetition and trade secret issues. He also provides counsel on reasonable accommodation, independent contractor law, workplace investigations, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and drafts separation and severance agreements.  Jeff is active in the American Bar Association's Section of Labor and Employment Law. He was selected for inclusion in its inaugural Leadership Development Program in 2009 and later chaired that program.  He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Section’s Marketing Committee and Co-Chair of the Employment At Will Subcommittee of the Employment Rights and Responsibilities Committee. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and Northeastern University School of Law.
