Take Your Dog to Work Day

Tim Scott, a partner in the New Orleans office, appeared on WWL-TV to discuss "Take Your Dog to Work Day." Studies show that pets in the workplace can improve morale, increase productivity and relieve stress, but Tim noted there can be legal risks. Some people are afraid of dogs and others are allergic to them. Some dogs can be aggressive or don't react well to being in unfamiliar situations or around strangers. Both the employer and employee can be held liable if anything were to happen as a result of the dog being in the workplace. Tim said that employers need to keep an eye on things, set rules and make sure employees know what is expected of them and that they are responsible for the behavior of their dogs.
