John Thompson, a partner in the Atlanta office and editor of the firm's Wage & Hour Laws Blog, was quoted in the November 28 Law360 article "Supreme Court To Rule On GSK Reps' OT Status." The article reported on a U.S. Supreme Court case that will decide if GlaxoSmithKline PLC drug sales representatives are entitled to overtime compensation. The case will mark the first time the court has ruled on any of the so-called white collar exemptions to the federal wage law and should settle a debate over how much deference courts should give to briefs by regulators. John said: "This question of whether to give deference, and if so what kind of deference, recurs constantly under the FLSA. The law in this area under the FLSA is just a complete hash at this point, and my hope is that whatever the Supreme Court does in this case will straighten it out."
