Charles Caulkins, a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office, was quoted in the article “Solis' Successor Expected To Sustain Aggressive DOL Agenda” on January 10 on Law360. The article reported on the recent announcement that Labor Secretary Hilda Solis is planning to step down, leaving a vacancy for President Obama to fill as he rounds out his Cabinet for a second term in office. Regardless of whom Obama chooses for the position, Charles noted that he expects the agency to remain on the course that Solis charted during her time in office - one of aggressive enforcement accompanied by forward movement on new, expansive regulations. “If you look at the DOL's agenda, it is consistent with the themes that have come out of the administration, so I would feel pretty certain that the president will ask whoever becomes the secretary of labor to continue that agenda and move as fast as they can to implement it.”
