In an interview with SHRM, Samantha Monsees discusses how employers should handle the question of whether to cover costs associated with COVID-19 testing. Samantha advises employers to look at all applicable laws, including those that predate the pandemic. She adds: "There are a number of states with statutes that predate COVID-19 that require employers to pay for mandatory medical tests or require that employers reimburse for any such testing.” Additionally, Samantha recommends that employers consider testing during work hours. "To avoid disruption, these tests can be done at the beginning or end of an employee's shift or can be performed at the worksite by a testing vendor."
