Senate Eyes Paid Transit, Parking Bill

House Bill 2802 would require employers in Chicago to pay for employee commuter transit and parking costs. In the article, "Senate Eyes Paid Transit, Parking Bill," featured in Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Attorney Franklin Wolf points out some components of the bill that should be considered before carrying out this program.
Franklin noted that by incorporating a federal law, the $255 per month limit in the bill could change through an act of Congress rather than the state’s General Assembly.
He also said one stipulation for employees getting reimbursed for parking under the bill requires the space to be “on or near the business premises of the employer or on or near a location from which the employee commutes to work by transportation on public transit,” but that definition is opaque.
