PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 14, 2008) - Fisher Phillips announced today that Reading Terminal Market Merchants' Association (RTMMA) has selected attorney, Brent Cossrow, as its first General Counsel.
"The merchants are exclusively owner-operated businesses that routinely face a range of challenging employee-related questions and we are proud to provide our members with valuable access to the extensive experience of Mr. Cossrow and the attorneys of Fisher Phillips," said Michael Holahan, President of the Merchants' Association.
"The Reading Terminal Market is an icon that has nurtured more goodwill with Philadelphians than any commercial institution in our City's rich history," said Brent Cossrow. "Fisher Phillips is honored to represent the Merchants, who are the heart and soul of the Market."
The Merchants' Association was established in 1930 to support and promote business in the Reading Terminal Market. Its membership of seventy-plus merchants includes family businesses stretching back many generations, including Bassett Ice Cream since 1892, Spataro's since 1947 and Harry G. Och's & Sons Meats since 1906. The Merchants' Association is widely known for its efforts to collect over 70,000 signatures in the late 1980's to preserve the Reading Terminal Market during construction of the Convention Center.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Cossrow graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He also attended the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Prior to law school, he worked with an international business consulting firm from 1994-96, providing advice on privatization and economic reform to former Soviet Governments and the World Bank.
