Private Companies Face Expanded Whistleblower Protection

Tim Scott was quoted in a New Orleans City Business article on the recent expansion of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
According to the article, the Supreme Court issued an opinion that expands whistleblower protections to the employees of contractors and subcontractors of public companies. The decision affects private employers whose employees now have recourse if they feel they are unfairly treated after bringing questionable company activity to light.
“There is a whole sea of people who will now be protected by this,” said Tim. “It will impact law firms, accounting firms, consulting groups, basically anyone that comes against sensitive information."
