Portland Partner Breaks Down Survey Findings on Economic Uncertainty with The Business Journals

In an interview with the American City Business Journals, Stephen Scott discusses Fisher Phillip’s recent Flash Survey findings, which surveyed over 600 employers on how they are responding to economic uncertainty. The survey indicates that only 24% of employers plan to slow hiring efforts, which means there are many vacant positions in the workplace. Stephen believes many employers don’t feel empowered partially due to their inability to fill these vacant positions. Additionally, he says, many employers are taking steps to combat inflation. Stephen is seeing employers dialing back on office expenses so that they put that money elsewhere. This theory is supported by the survey’s finding that 30% of employers said they were offering bumps in pay to match cost-of-living expenses.
