Ohio Partner Interviews on How the Supreme Court’s Gun Ruling Impacts Employers

In an interview with Law360, Mathew Parker shares his insights on how the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. et al. v. Bruen will impact state gun laws and what employers need to do to keep their workplaces safe. While the ruling doesn’t directly impact the workplace, Mathew explains that employees may now have easier access to firearms and that employers should have a heightened awareness for weapons in the workplace and de-escalation training for employees.

“Employees should know what to do if de-escalation fails, for example alerting on-site security or local authorities to a dangerous scenario. What you can do as an employer is to try and give them the best tools to manage these situations," Mathew added.
