Mitigating Legal Risk Through Cyber Insurance: Challenges and Trends
Event
7.21.22
9:00 AM — 10:00 AM PST
As cybercrime and ransomware attacks continue to climb, businesses are increasingly asked to weigh the costs of maintaining cyber insurance with mitigating the legal risks of a cyber attack or other data breach. Companies must navigate ever more complex requirements to obtain and retain cyber insurance while understanding precisely what coverage entails.
This panel discussion is designed to take the mystery out of cyber insurance and help key stakeholders make informed decisions about their cyber insurance policies. Panelists will discuss:
- How and when to engage outside counsel under a cyber policy
- What types of engagements are covered by cyber insurance
- How attorney-client privilege applies to breach response and cyber attacks
- Guidance on what cyber insurance covers, including whether or not to pay ransom
- How to handle a ransomware attack in light of the State Department’s OFAC rules on paying ransom to entities tied to terrorism
- Essential security measures for both legal compliance and obtaining or renewing cyber insurance coverage
