Tracy Moon Jr. was quoted in the Atlanta Business Chronicle article entitled “March Madness Office Pools May Put The Office In Deep Water.”
Some who were asked say betting pools should not take place at work and companies that encourage, or even turn a blind eye to the activity may be encouraging unlawful behavior, according to the article.
Tracy warned that there is a Georgia state statute that prohibits gambling and companies should take heed.
“In Georgia, this activity is a misdemeanor; however, if it falls under the classification of commercial gambling it is a felony and the people involved may land in jail,” Tracy said.
