The article, “Local Executives Track the Polls, Anticipate Changes Under New Administration,”featured in the Memphis Business Journal, discussed how as the U.S. presidential election results are tabulated, Memphis executives are already thinking about its effect on their respective industries.
David Jones said it’s too early to say how, but there is also no doubt the election will have an affect on immigration policy.
“One of the things I think is important for people to understand, in order for any substantial change to immigration laws, Congress has to act,” David said. “The number of bills that have been introduced over the past decade is astonishing, and few have passed.”
However, there will be possible changes by executive actions, David said. Programs like Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), for example, could go away immediately under presidential candidate Donald Trump.
