Lawyer Talks to Detroit Free Press About the Hot-Button Issue of Face Masks

Michigan’s face mask mandate has placed employers in the middle of what has become a divisive issue across the nation. In an interview with the Detroit Free Press, Stephen Gee talked about how he has been relying on science when advising employers that they should be carefully following any/all mask rules. He explains, “[w]e point out that health experts have unanimously declared wearing masks to be one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19.” He also provides some practical steps that employers can take to try to avoid potential problems with customers who may get upset by the mask rule. In the end, Stephen notes that the Michigan mask rule “appears enforceable” and he is not recommending that employers try to challenge it.
