Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, mine operators have been waiting for MSHA to release guidance regarding how to safeguard the health and safety of their miners amid the outbreak. In an article written and published in Rock Road Recycle, Christopher Peterson notes that there has been a disturbing lack of mine-specific guidance from MSHA during the pandemic. In the article Chris explains that he reached out to MSHA for answers and “found an agency navigating uncharted waters just like the rest of the regulated community.” Chris goes on to explain that, despite the lack of information, MSHA has provided some very brief guidance for mine operators and he provides some key points for operators about protecting their workforce.
