In an interview with New Scientist, Micah Dickie discusses the recent spike in OSHA heat-related workplace inspections in an effort to protect workers from extreme temperatures until the agency issues a national heat-safety standard. Micah suggests OSHA’s heat-safety standard may resemble that of California’s, requiring employers to offer training, shade, and water for outdoor workers when the temperature is above 80°F as well as paid breaks when the temperature is at 95°F.
