Labor Relations Co-Chair Interviewed on New York’s New Cannabis Industry Union Laws

In an interview with Law360, Todd Lyon, co-chair of Fisher Phillips’ Labor Relations practice, details New York’s new laws that require cannabis organizations to enter into a labor peace agreement with a union as an ongoing condition of registration. Generally, in a labor peace agreement, an employer agreed to remain neutral during any organizing efforts by a union and the union agrees not to engage in strike or picketing activity against the employer. Todd explains that employers must pay attention to the fine details in labor peace agreements because the state statutes governing them provide only a skeleton of what must be included.
