Alden Parker, partner and co-chair of Fisher Phillips’ Hospitality Industry team recently spoke with The Associated Press on how restaurants are deciding to reopen their doors amid a resurgence of COVID infections. Already, more than 250 lawsuits have been filed against U.S. businesses nationwide over coronavirus, including from employees who say they were terminated after they tested positive. Alden says that many businesses are finding that the risks of reopening outweigh any reward from the meager foot traffic coming in the door. He also explains that uncertainty in the legal landscape around business liability is unclear, which may lead to more businesses hesitating to reopen.
