In an interview with Healthcare Risk Management, Kevin Troutman explains what employers should take away from OSHA’s round of planned inspections of healthcare facilities.
While OSHA appears to be revisiting hospitals that have had previous violations, they are also zeroing in on PPE, in general. That may signal a broader strategy for permanent safety standards.
“We know that behind the scenes, OSHA is probably shaping the expired ETS into what will become a permanent standard,” Kevin says. “We understand they also are working on an infectious disease standard that won’t be specific to COVID but will help make sure hospitals are prepared for that kind of thing in the future.”
