In a wrap-up of California’s data privacy landscape, Legaltech News referenced an interview where Usama Kahf discusses the challenges that companies are facing now that the CCPA HR Data Exemption has expired. California is now the first state to have a comprehensive data privacy law that would cover employee and job applicant data.
“There are employers that have been under the impression that this is a consumer privacy law… so their common understanding of what a consumer is suggests to them that this is not about them,” said Usama.
