Howard was quoted on the importance of weighing a number of factors to determine when to intervene.
Howard noted that he has had many conversations with employers of all sizes who have seen signs that an employee is going down a dark path and want to intervene, despite what some lawyers might advise. There might be legal risk involved, he says, but it’s a matter of balancing that risk with corporate culture and a sense of moral duty. “If handled right, these matters are not as risky as one might think. They need to be taken on a case-by-case basis,” he explained.
