Howard Mavity surveyed U.S. businesses to form a list of 40 procedures common to the nation’s safest companies. Foremost in Howard’s findings is that bonuses of CEOs and upper-level managers are dependent in part on safety performance. Other common traits of safe companies are an annual safety retreat, monthly safety audits and a requirement that all employees receive at-home visits after an on-the-job injury.
