Fisher Phillips, one of the country’s preeminent labor and employment law firms representing employers, announces the addition of Alba V. Aviles as an associate in the firm’s New Jersey office.
Alba joins from a large general practice firm and expands Fisher Phillips’ Litigation and Labor Relations practices. She defends employers in the healthcare, technology, and financial services industries against employment claims involving discrimination, harassment, unfair labor practice charges and disputes over restrictive covenants and intellectual property. Alba also partners with employers in connection with traditional labor law issues. As a part of her litigation and labor practice, she regularly appears before state and federal courts and administrative agencies and advises clients on litigation liability and strategy. Alba also helps employers draft and update corporate policies, procedures and handbooks to comply with federal, state and local laws.
In addition to her private practice, Alba regularly participates in pro-bono matters, having provided more than 100 hours of pro bono work. The Superior Court of New Jersey has regularly appointed Alba as court-appointed attorney for Spanish-speaking alleged incapacitated individuals in guardianship proceeding matters.
Prior to entering private practice, Alba served as a law clerk to The Honorable Walter Koprowski, Jr. Presiding Judge in the New Jersey Superior Court’s Chancery Division – General Equity/Probate Part in Essex County. During law school, she was the legal intern for the Honorable Michael Shipp, U.S.D.J., while he served as a magistrate, and the Honorable Faith Hochberg, U.S.D.J. in the District of New Jersey.
Alba earned her J.D. from Rutgers School or Law and her B.A., cum laude, from Syracuse University.
