Fisher Phillips Partner Among Atlanta's ‘Legal Elite'

ATLANTA, GA (December 12, 2012) – Kim Kiel Thompson, a partner with Fisher Phillips, has been named to Georgia Trend magazine’s “Legal Elite.” Thompson was recognized for her work in immigration law.
In its 10th year, the Legal Elite is a listing of Georgia’s top attorneys as selected by their peers. Any attorney who is a member of the state bar and lives and practices in Georgia is eligible to vote and/or be voted onto the list.
“Our clients have long benefited from Kim’s excellent legal work in the area of immigration. It’s nice to see that her work has been recognized by her peers in this way,” said Tom Rebel, managing partner of the Atlanta office of Fisher Phillips.
Thompson serves as chair of the firm's Global Immigration Practice Group and co-chair of the International Employment Practice Group. Her practice focuses on immigration and nationality law; she began practicing in this area in 1990.
Covering a broad range of immigration issues, Thompson’s practice includes visa work, handling both temporary and permanent visa cases, as well as advising employers on compliance with the Form I-9, including government audits of I-9 forms and discrimination and document abuse provisions of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. She also advises employers on best practices in immigration-related employment topics.
A member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association-affiliated association for attorneys practicing immigration law, Thompson also is a frequent lecturer and presenter on immigration topics.
Thompson is "AV" Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, has been selected for inclusion in Georgia Super Lawyers every year since 2005 and, in 2005, was named one of the "Top 50 Female Georgia Super Lawyers." She has also been listed in Chambers USA, America's Leading Business Lawyers since 2009 and in The Best Lawyers in America since 2010.
She is a graduate of Florida State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and master’s degree in international relations. She received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law.
